I've been a math teacher for 35 years, a husband for 27, a dad for 25. I've played ultimate frisbee since the 80's, run 7 marathons and the Pikes Peak Ascent. And I've been telling stories since I discovered that sometimes it's the only thing that will get a student to lift their head off their desk. Their favorite is the story about the summer I supervised 13 boys picking pineapples, especially since it gets us out of at least 3 days of math. When I run into former students, I know what's mattered most over those 35 years when they smile and say, "The Pineapple Story."
